Start with your account and access, then install from Blizzard’s launcher. That order prevents the most common dead end: troubleshooting a beta client on the wrong account or assuming launch access and beta access are the same thing.
Before you install
For launch, Blizzard says WoW Forever access is included with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time. The beta is separate: you can opt in for a chance to be selected or use an eligible purchase that includes beta access. Check the current offer and your Battle.net account before buying or downloading anything.
Keep the email and authenticator details for the account you plan to use available. If several household accounts share a computer, verify which account is signed in before checking eligibility.
Install and launch
- Open the official Battle.net app and sign in to the intended account.
- Select World of Warcraft and open Game Version above Play. Under In Development, select World of Warcraft: Forever Beta. These are the beta announcement’s labels; a launch client is a separate selection.
- Choose Install, finish updates, then Play. Keep graphics drivers current.
- Select a test realm and create a character. Read the current beta notice and maintenance announcements before playing.
- If access was just purchased, allow up to 30 minutes and restart Battle.net. Confirm the account has a beta license before reinstalling.
If the beta option is missing, check your account license and eligibility first. Opt-in alone does not grant access. Do not download an unofficial client to bypass that check.
Make your first session easier
Pick a class and starting area you enjoy rather than trying to optimize a character around incomplete beta information. The current beta notes are for a changing test build. If you are testing, report reproducible bugs through Blizzard’s in-game or official feedback route and include the steps that led to the issue.
If something does not work
First confirm the right Battle.net account and game version. For a beta access question, check the official eligibility instructions. For realm maintenance or connection notices, see the server status guide. For account or launcher errors, use Blizzard’s official support site rather than a third-party download or key seller.
