WoW Forever PvP: Honor, Rank Points and Gear Upgrades

Honor is spending currency; Rank Points track rank progression. Keeping those two separate is the simplest way to avoid buying or grinding toward the wrong goal.

Blizzard’s explanation does not supply a numeric weekly Rank Point cap. Do not substitute an old Classic ranking formula for a missing number.

Where to check progress

Open the character pane with C, then select its PvP section. Compare the requirement shown on the reward with the rank shown there before spending. The official reward progression puts gear unlocks at successive ranks and weapons at rank 14; the full reward list is linked below.

Seasonal weekly tasks award Honor and Rank Points. Completing three tasks also awards Legacy Points, and the Legacy tasks remain available in later seasons according to the announcement.

Beta values can change

The October 1 notes set a 25,000 Honor cap and increase item costs by roughly 50%. These are beta values, not a promise about launch prices. A newer official note or the current vendor tooltip should take priority when you plan a purchase.

Plan your next session

This is our practical recommendation, rather than an official optimal route:

1. Choose the next item you actually need, then record its Honor cost and rank requirement.
2. Check weekly progress before deciding whether another session advances that target.
3. Keep a blue item if it is part of a planned epic upgrade; do not discard it purely because you are saving currency.
4. Compare quests, battleground play and current seasonal tasks with the same goal in mind.
5. Recheck the latest notes before treating a beta cost as permanent.
