The October 8 beta update adds the City of Dalaran dungeon and makes dungeon leveling faster. Blizzard increased experience from dungeon creature kills by approximately 20% and corrected how party kill experience is calculated. The same update expands Cooldown Manager support to every class, racial abilities and trinkets.

What changed for your next session?

  • City of Dalaran is now available for testing. Blizzard’s note does not give it a level range, so do not infer one from the level-30 cap or other dungeon ranges.
  • Dungeon creature kills grant about 20% more experience. This is a change to creature-kill XP; the post does not say that dungeon quest rewards changed.
  • Party kill XP now uses each character’s own level. The previous calculation penalized the whole party based on its highest-level member. Blizzard says the individual level matters, as in Classic Era. A character far above the enemy’s level still prevents the party from earning XP.
  • Cooldown Manager support now covers all classes, racial abilities and trinkets. Consumables are planned for a later update. The post also restores weapon swaps within one global cooldown, including macro use.

What should you do?

If you are choosing a leveling session, try a dungeon with a group and compare creature-kill XP with your previous runs. Mixed-level groups may see the corrected individual calculation, but the official note does not publish a level-gap threshold. Record your character levels and build when reporting a result.

If you reached the cap, the latest notes do not announce a cap increase; the level-30 guide tracks the confirmed cap and currently available activities. If you are testing cooldown tracking, check racial abilities and trinkets in addition to class spells, and remember that consumables are not supported yet.

What this update does not confirm

The post gives no level range for City of Dalaran and does not change the stated level cap. It also does not establish the current realm status after the update. For a dated maintenance follow-up and safe connection checks, see the server status guide.
