Skyborne are a new playable elven race in World of Warcraft: Forever, also called shen’dorei. Their starting story is set on Zephras Isle, and you choose a Horde or Alliance alignment at character creation.
How do I unlock Skyborne in WoW Forever?
Blizzard lists the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher edition as the requirement for the race and Zephras Isle starting questline. Base subscription access and this race unlock are separate. Compare the pack benefits before purchasing; beta eligibility is another separate requirement.
Skyborne classes: Horde versus Alliance
| Alignment | Available classes in the official preview |
|---|---|
| Horde — Windshaper | Druid, Hunter, Rogue, Shaman, Warrior |
| Alliance — High Order | Druid, Hunter, Mage, Rogue, Warrior |
Both alignments share four class choices. Shaman is the Horde option; Mage is the Alliance option. Decide on faction and class together before creating a character, especially if you plan to play with friends.
Zephras Isle starting experience
The preview describes Zephras Isle as a level 1–12 starting experience. The story follows the island’s missing wind spirits and the Skyborne’s differing responses. This describes the starting zone, not the game’s maximum level.
Our advice: follow the introductory quests and learn your chosen class before importing an older leveling route. We have not built an interactive map or verified every quest coordinate, so this page does not pretend to provide one.
Racial abilities and choosing a class
The preview lists shared gliding, haste and elemental-damage racials. It also describes a movement blessing for Windshapers and a ley-line regeneration ability for High Order. Use the official ability descriptions and current beta tooltips for exact values; this guide does not rank a best race/class combination from incomplete testing.
For talent milestones and changed class rules, continue to the class guide. A race preview and a later beta patch can have different dates, so check both when planning a build.
Before creating your Skyborne
- Confirm the correct Battle.net account owns the unlock you intend to use.
- Choose the faction your group will play, then check that faction’s class list.
- Confirm beta access separately if you are playing before launch.
- Read later patch notes before relying on a previewed racial interaction.
These checks are our practical preparation advice. They do not promise character transfers, a particular queue time or final launch balance.
